Frequently asked questions
How often should I wash my Botella?
You should only wash your Botella when you feel it is absolutely necessary. You can keep topping up or refilling it with olive oil or balsamic vinegar without washing it. Rather than washing it frequently, to maintain the shine of your Botella, we recommend you wipe down the outside with a glass cleaner and a soft cloth.
What is the best way to wash my Botella?
Wash the bottle in warm soapy water. Oil and water CANNOT be mixed so do not pour oil into the bottle until it is completely dry. Turn upside down to allow water to drain. Allow time for the bottle to dry in a warm place. To get rid of small drops of water, the bottle (without any stoppers) can be placed in the oven, up to 150*C for a few minutes. The bottles are heat resistant up to 150 *C. Corks and silicone stoppers can be regularly washed in warm soapy water, dried with a cloth and replaced.
What is the best way to fill my Botella?
We suggest using the funnel provided unless the bottle in which the olive oil or balsamic vinegar you purchased comes with its own spout. If you use the funnel provided, you might have to tip the Botella slightly to pour in the olive oil or balsamic vinegar. If you do that, be sure to cork up the other opening. Fill the large chamber two thirds with olive oil. Fill the smaller chamber with your favourite balsamic vinegar until the chamber is full without filling the neck.
Can I place herbs such as a sprig of thyme or rosemary in my Botella?
While this may look attractive in the Botella and will infuse the olive oil with an additional flavour, we don't suggest you do this, as it will be difficult to retrieve the sprig once it has passed its prime. It would be preferable to pour the olive oil into a little dish with the desired herbs.
